What is it and why is it such a useful tool?
A dopamine menu is a personalized list of the things in life that bring you joy and fulfill you. Many of us intuitively turn to these things when we feel good, so why should you even make one? During those moments when you feel stuck, when you're spiraling, or when you want to stop your doom scroll, you have a cheat sheet to guide you to your needs.
Although the goal is to authentically curate this menu, there is an intentional way to do it which insures you'll create a well rounded and whole selection. These are the five key points to hit (with simple examples) when diving into your dopamine menu:
Intentional Movement (yoga, dancing, workout, stretching)
Healing Spirituality (praying, meditation, movement)
Intuitive Grounding (music, nature, breathing, tapping, affirmations)
Fulfilling Hobby (baking, writing, painting, running)
Simple Pleasure (friends, pets, smoothies, movies)
When you incorporate each of these points, you'll have the perfect combination of what you need and what your soul is craving.
